Institutional authorship
Eco Animal Life publishes under institutional authorship rather than individual bylines with invented credentials. We do this deliberately: we will never attribute an article to a fictional "wildlife expert" or invent a field testimonial to make a page feel more authoritative. Every claim on this site is expected to stand on its own, backed by a named, checkable source — not by a persona.
How an article gets made
Each article starts from a single, specific question a reader is likely to search for — never a vague or overlapping topic covered elsewhere on the site. From there:
- We research the topic using primary scientific and institutional sources: the IUCN Red List, NOAA, NASA Earth Observatory, USGS, the Smithsonian, UNEP, and Ramsar, among others when relevant.
- We draft the article in plain language, keeping every number, range, and conservation status traceable to the source we checked and the date we checked it.
- We fact-check the draft against those sources again before publishing, removing or rewording anything we can't verify.
- We link the article to the relevant entries in our Comparator dataset and to related articles, so readers can keep exploring.
How we decide what to publish
Our editorial scope is the world's ecosystems and biomes: how they're structured, what lives in them, how energy and nutrients move through them, and what threatens or protects them. We avoid topics outside that scope, and we avoid publishing near-duplicate articles — each piece is written to answer a distinct question, not to pad out a word count.
Accuracy and updates
Ecological data changes: conservation statuses are reassessed, habitat estimates are revised, and new research corrects older figures. We review articles periodically and update them when a cited source changes its figures. Every data point carries the date it was last checked, so you can judge how current it is. If you find something that looks outdated or wrong, see our corrections policy.
Editorial independence
This site currently carries no advertising. If that changes in the future, any advertising will be kept visually and structurally separate from editorial content, and it will never influence which facts we report or how we report them. Our full data sourcing is documented on the Methodology and sources page.
